Verbo Church

We woke up to our alarm today! Yay! We got ready for church and picked up our friend Miriam. As we said before, Verbo Church is where the children from Casa Bernabe attend. We love coming here because their are so many familiar faces as well as new people that we are constantly introduced to. We arrived at the church with Miriam and her sister Katherine. The service was lovely as was last week's, but we could not tell you what the sermon was about if our life depended on it. Delanie cannot speak Spanish, and Priscilla couldn't really understand because sometimes these NIcaraguans speak so fast that it's hard to catch every word. Instead we took turns reading our devotional book and bible. So don't worry, we got some spiritual food! After TWO hours of this service, we got a bit antsy. It's not easy to sit through a two hour sermon in the first place, let alone one you can't even understand. Because of this we got a little goofy. We laughed at a possible inappropriate volume but tried very hard to stop (and weren't very successful). We got a chance to talk to our friends from Casa Bernabe after the church service which was really nice.

We want to head over to Casa tomorrow because it is Freydel's 13th birthday! This might not happen though due to the annual nation wide Sandinista fest being celebrated tomorrow and the day after. The Sandinistas are a socialist political group in Nicaragua and they are not very fond of U.S. citizens. It may not be the best idea to leave the house but we are getting in touch with some people to find out what we can do. Don't let this worry you (Ruth and Lynn!) because we will be safe and make wise choices. A little prayer on your part wouldn't hurt, though!

One last note, we just want to thank all of you who actually read this silly blog. Sometimes we feel like it's not being read, but then we realize that's it's a good idea to keep everyone updated on what we are doing. We hope you like it (at least a little!).

I am today what yesterday has made me; tomorrow I shall be changed by today's experiences.
xoxo
