Big Sister, Little Sister

Today Delanie and I made plans to take out three of the girls from Casa Bernabe. We had to ask permission from the director a few days ago because the kids can't usually leave the ophanage easily. We picked up Freydel, Maryuri, and Isamar at 11:00 this morning and headed to the mall. The mall that we went to is called Galerias and it is very Americanized. The girls wanted Burger King, so Burger King it was. After eating the biggest burgers on the menu we all walked around and window shopped for a while.

After the mall we invited the girls back to our house in Managua to hang out. They toured our pad and we all ended up in our room. They got a chance to go online and check emails/facebook to keep in touch with friends and family (the computers at the orphanage don't always work from what they tell us). We curled and straightened their hair and just had time to build on our relationships with them. As was mentioned before, the kids don't usually leave the orphanage so it was nice to see them out of their usual environment. We drove them home in the late afternoon and came back home to rest. It was a day of mentoring and being big sisters to these young women who need adults that they can look up to and lean on. We see them as our little sisters and we love to spend time with them and allow God to use us as a tool to shape their lives. They are such a blessing to us!

We are reaching our peak of energy for the week and we really feel that tomorrow we should chill out a bit and run boring grown-up errands. It's crazy because the fact that we need to go grocery shopping and do other home-like activities makes us see that we are actually living here! It's very easy to keep going and not realize that we are burning out quickly, so tomorrow will be more relaxed. Continue to pray for us!!! We love all of you so much and miss home!!!

I am today what yesterday has made me; tomorrow I shall be changed by today's experiences.
xoxo
Priscilla and Delanie
